No coup, it's just as competitive in the valley. Plenty of 10,000-50,000 acre guys who are growing. Plenty of young guns who want to rent their way into the above category. Lots of old money lots of competition. It's no different here than in SCIL.

My guess is Tara rents from mostly close relatives and friends. He is lucky and again I'll say the exception to the rule if his landlords treated him that well. It's really hard to get much traction with spreadsheets and break evens when the landlords have others ready to pick up the ground at a moments notice.
I'm not arguing what is right or wrong just the reality of the situation. That reality is that there is still lots of old money around. There is still lots of big egos around. And there is still a lot of young guys who figure more acres equals more income.
