Iowa | I couldn't agree more Whats Up. If Nebraska is like Iowa then they are using extremely outdated rules to fund the general fund budgets of our districts. Rural america keeps loosing kids and therefore a lot of money. The PEBL budget which is the one which funds new school buildings etc is the one which isn't being affected as much. Therefore, all the cuts are coming at the expense of the kids as teachers are being lost and salaries reduced. Not saying things can't be more efficient etc with class / supt. sharing but it is absolutely ridiculous our political process allows this to happen meanwhile corporations are receiving tax breaks galore. Iowa used to be the top state in the nation when it came to education scores....now we are middle of the pack...you know what else dropped during this time? $$ per student funding.
If states like Iowa want to have less schools then mandate it and stop this craziness. Does it make a lot of sense to not pay them enough money to support the necessary amount of teachers and staff yet allow them to build brand new buildings? | |
