Adrian MI | The amount of silage you get per acre is proportional to the amount of grain yield per acre. Most years we average 140 bu. corn or 18-20 tons/ silage per acre. So far this year one field went 5 tons/acre and was appraised @ 25 bushels/acre. Last field went 9 tons/ acre and was appraised @ 50 bushels/acre. They were our dryest fields, so we hope the rest are a little better. But we'll take all the money we collect off insurance and buy standing corn out of the field to chop, as we will have to chop twice as many acres as we planned on.
