Sort of Central to North Central Iowa | I think for someone to collect insurance and then cut silage, they must have the yield appraised or leave check strips, then are paid on the difference, just like if it was harvested for grain. Also, I don't believe there is much feed value in the silage as there is very little grain in it. It will not be a very high quality feed, in my opinion, and if they handle the claim as they are supposed to, I have no problem with them collecting insurance proceeds. |
