Subject: RE: Insulating heated floor

NE SD
I just put up a shop last summer 60X72X18 and put 1.5 inch high density foam board under concrete. It was very simple and just threw the 4X8 sheets down and did a little cutting for around the posts. We did not tape the seams. Then stapled the floor heat tubes directly to this and put rebar on plastic chairs and poured concrete. Around the edge we dug down with a backhoe 2' and ripped the 4X8 sheet in half and nailed put them up to where the top of concrete would be. So edge of concrete is right up to and against the foam.
I do not know if this was the right way to do it but so far this winter its costing me about 200-225 bucks/month to heat to 55 degrees and its been cold and we have had to doors open at least once/day and brought 2 cold semis in there loaded. This is on NG fuel.
