Have been clearing ground 50 yrs. Tear the burn pile apart and repile,burn again, best to keep feeding edges in. Take unburnt stumps to next burn pile ,repeat. A 50,000# excavator will split a big stump by tipping stump over and wiggling teeth to split it. All stumps will burn much faster split. Have burned piles completely and nothing left.
