Subject: RE: Stumps and logs buried - how long do they "last"

Forever, well maybe not but close, 8 years ago I cleaned up a 15 acre shelter belt and farm yard, pushed all the trees into piles, while burning I stirred and restacked with excavator, basically ended up with stumps, some logs that were buried in dirt and didn't burn, luckily we own an abandoned gravel pit just a little over 1/2 mile from where I did this so rented one of those large 6 wheel articulated dump trucks and hauled everything down to the pit, never dug a single hole, dumped everything down there and had a dozer level it off hauled enough dirt down with it that grass is growing very nicely and the cows have no issues walking around stumps/logs that are partly sticking out of the ground while grazing remaining pieces will never be an issue.
