Texas/New Mexico Stateline | Several key things:
1) find other work to supplement your income. You have the trucking business, so if it is making money that is great. I spent a lot of time in the tractor seats of other farmers when I was getting started. Don't be to proud to ask other guys if they need a tractor driver or harvest help.
2) Lifestyle. NO car payments, drive something older and paid for. Rent a cheap place to live. Don't waste money on extra stuff you don't really need. Motorcycles, cable TV, Starbucks, girlfriends, etc.
3) Remember with your farm it is better to do a few things well, than try to to a lot of things mediocre. Don't get fancy. Be on time with your farming, stay ahead of the weeds, fertilize properly, etc.
