Pawnee,gage county, neb | My 20year old son was riding with a friend of his who is also 20 years old in a pickup owned by the friend & the friends dad, the friend got pulled over for speeding, & after getting a speeding ticket the cop asked for my son's ID, which he complied & gave to the officer, then the officer told them he would go back to his car & be back in a bit, on the way back to his car the officer seen a closed cooler in the bed of the truck & he gets in the bed of the truck & opens the cooler finding 4-5 cans of beer, the officer ticketed both my son & his friend for MIP & also searched the entire vehicle without consent, there were no alcoholic beverages or containers in the cab of the truck nor had either my son or his friend been drinking any alcoholic beverages , my ? Is wasn't this an illegalal search , & is a closed cooler in the bed of a truck that contains alcohol sufficient evidence to ticket the occupants of the vehicle for MIP in the state of Nebraska.
