South Central MN | I have not had a shoulder replacement, but did have pretty involved rotator cuff/bicep tendonesis repair done this spring. I purchased this ice machine to help with post op pain and it helped A LOT with that. I wish I would have purchased it sooner to use pre-surgery. Rather than filling the ice machine with ice cubes, I put a small amount of water in the unit and then put four frozen water bottles in it. It kept it cold for maybe four hours. Sleeping on a wedge cushion also helped a lot. Good luck!
