To be honest, I'm imagining out west "dry" not midwest dry. Fallow tillage situations with wind.
Or like 2012 dry, not "dry spring" dry.
1 mm/ac = ~1 ton/ac. With some dust clouds I've seen it's very possible to loose that much.
Again, adds up over time. Something you'd only really notice over 2-3 generations.
But once it's gone it takes time to build it back.
