Palestine, IL 62451

I am a firm believer in "healthy soils." But in the environment we all compete in sometimes we only get a couple of years to prove ourselves to be able to rent it again. Farmers are their own worst enemy but that is a given. Absentee landowners will continue to compound this problem.  Some farms that we have farmed for 5-7 years are still transitioning to healthier soils. I don't know the answers, but I do know that on stuff we have farmed for 20+ years is in much better shape than some we just started farming. As Mike shared a quote, it is hard to put a $ on it because of the advancements in a lot of other things.
