no doubt soil erosion has been, and will continue, to be a problem. But it looks like this article is just another hack job against agriculture. From what i could see, the author used a computer model to determine the eroded areas using soil color, and then made the assumption that all lighter colored soils had lost all the topsoil. I don't see where he states that he ground truthed any of his modeling. The editor of the paper is David Tilman, who also works with EWG putting out articles stating how farmers are ruining the world. In my opinion, very little value to this article.
