If adding a few ounces of something gets a reasonable response from something that should be in the soil at pounds to tons per acre (humic/fulvic acids), I agree the soil is depleted.

Not to downplay effect of humic acids, just pointing out how one sip causes so much like a recovering alcoholic relapsing.
