There's a large dairy here that is buying some incredible amounts of land around. They bought a large chunk on the Arkansas River at the east edge of Colorado that has senior water rights. Right now they are producing a lot of hay and grain for their dairies..............but I'm pretty certain their long term plan is just owning that water. If I could afford it..............I'd have bought it instead of them. Can you imagine what water that starts at the Rocky Mountains and goes right by the front range cities before it ventures out to the eastern plains of Colorado is really actually worth?

So if the wells dry up, they can force the upstream juniors to supply the permitted quantity to them? What about quality? There's wells here that went salty and arent worth pumping. Can only move the amount they've been USING and even then there is a reduction required and the new point of diversion has to meet many criteria.
