SE IL | Over the multigenerational long haul you are absolutely correct. For single generation timing is everything, and no way to know for sure whether the time is good or bad. Someone who bought a lot in the late 70s early 80s took 20-30 years "here" to get back to where it was before the 80s crash. On the other hand a guy who bought a lot in the early 2000s is rich beyond belief now (sorta), with values in the last 15-20 years going up 4-5x. Interesting thing is there arent many guys that started around here in the 90s and early 2000s, the 80s scared young guys away from farming. The ones who do fall in that age category have the world by the tail so to speak. | |
