Center of Nebr. | Been there. In 1985 the bank told me they would loan me half of the operating money I would need for that year. I had bought land that they did cut the value in half. So we regrouped and I have continued farming and buying land. It was a huge learning experience for me. My son calls me Papa Bear to his friends because every time we buy land we give it a test of whether we can ride thru a down turn in the land market. It is all about being able to remain solvent and profitable. It isn't just farming but all about managing risk in everything you do. | |
