sw corner ia. | when I was a kid I saw my dad inject a copius amount of grease into a disc furrower bearing then wrap a rag around it on a 494 planter that the seal had gone out letting the bearing run dry. that thing lasted a long time.
I have bearings on a redekop straw chopper that have about 2000 hours now and I just grease them every day till I see new grease come out. had to replace the mower deck bearings on my mower that had less than 300 hours, before I put the new ones back I filled them all full before I put them back. I used a tool that I got at farm show many years ago that will pregrease almost every sealed bearing you can get. it is a greasy job but you only have to do it once. | |
