| Wife wants a house and I want a heated shop. A while back a non-farming buddy of mine joked I should get a pole barn house. I shrugged it off not taking it serious. Last night I talked to a guy at a get together who just bought a “shouse” and said he loves it. His wife was reluctant but wouldn’t have it any other way after living in it for a bit. Anyone here go this route? What tax write offs can I get?...only the sq ft of the shop or the entire building?If there’s anyone who has went this route...what savings did you get by not building a traditional house? I’ve seen some floorplans where basements are available so it’s not just sitting on a slab of concrete. I’ve heard a lot more energy efficient, build time drastically lower and the overall cost to build beats traditional homes. | |
