indiana | There was a time , or many years , where it was said most farmers lived poor and died rich. They did so to grow/build their farms. Nowadays that isn't considered very desirable by many wannabe farmers or current farmers for that matter. The conservative lifestyle of a farmer isn't as conservative as it used to be. Fancy houses , fancy vehicles , expensive vacations , etc. And to make clear I am not bashing any of it , just telling what I see. Times have changed.
A young person has to REALLY want to farm to do it. If they are highly motivated and/or college educated they can go to town and make good money without the financial risk , irregular hours, and low pay farming sometimes provides.
