SW Louisiana | I recently built a 40' x 65' steel building and enclosed 40 x 25 as a current living area and future office / guest house. I considered a pole barn but felt all steel was the longer lasting route. Consider a minimum of 14' eaves and 3:12 roof pitch as you can utilize the area above the living area as storage. Our septic system is sized to handle the shop and future house.
I did the work myself and saved substantial money over building a traditional house. In this area the permitting requirements aren't the same as building a traditional house so this worked in my favor.
