East central Iowa | I just don't get the big draw to have living space in same structure as shop or storage. Build a 2 story garage and then add on to that when time comes. cheaper and better equity builder.
Do what you want, but I've run the numbers and with new construction doing all my own labor I built a 2 story 1550 sqft. house with 24x36 garage for $65,000 turn key not fancy. A 60x72x16 tall pole building is $34,000 to have built.
The house was appraised at $192,000 the shed at $34,000. You be the judge which is a better investment.
Just my opinion but look at all options.
