Subject: Nkline, buyout for dairy

“These are the times that try men's souls.”
nkline, the federal dairy buyout was in the Food Security Act of 1985. Those cows were sent to slaughter from 1986-87. That was 33 years ago. How can that be affecting the expansion of dairy's today? Yes there was a buyout in 2003-2010' called the CWT Cooperatives Working Together. That was fully funded by the dairymen themselves by a assessment from their milk check. A lot of dairymen were forced to pay in to it without their blessing if they belonged to a Coop whose board of directors voted for it. If you sold milk to a independent milk plant you had your own choice whether to fund it. You had to pay into it if you wanted to participate in buyout.
