West Central Iowa | Feeding cattle has tight margins also. Dairy has had issues for many years because the risk the government buyout has taken out of expansion. But, I'm an outsider looking in. You should run the numbers for a beef cow herd, replacements are as cheap as they've been for a while with what are historically good calf prices. I'm a little more optimistic about the future of farming, but just because you love doing something a certain way doesn't mean the numbers will work, you are competing against the world. | |
