Subject: RE: young farmer

Spring Ranch, NE
I keep telling myself rome wasn't built in a day. I have an excellent day job, wife stays home with 4 kids. The farm is buying equipment. Taking on a little more as I go(on year 8). Keeping debt at little to none is a blessing that reflects back to having the first few years be really really good and spending money to make more money.

I am still trying to position myself with the ability to buy the ground when the estate is settled. Not sure if I should be paid for equipment rich, or cash in hand for down payment rich. Wish I was both :) but I am trying to be somewhat balanced and have some of both.

All in all I think surviving is my goal. Pay the bills and live to see another day. There are good days coming, and bad for that matter. Its a life time achievement in my opinion, and generally spans several generations. I would hope your FIL is willing to help you along and make sure you keep the farm going for the next generation.
