I was at a seminar (ok, seed open house day) Thursday where some of the speakers were promoting different ideas. Cover crops, keep it green, sustainable......

All real good ideas, you know I play with those concepts myself.

But the soils you and I have up here, and the water table, and a late spring, you just never know what you can mineralized out of that dirt. One year I wouldn't need any p or k or even N from a 6 foot deep peat bog, the next year you can't get enough to the plant even if you strip a rich band for them it never gets released.

Sure wish the crystal ball came out to know the weather for the next 12 months. Probably just take away the fun of the job tho!
