I'll say this. I think you are going in the right direction. Yes I think you can find someone. For our "newer" equipment I buy all the technical manuals and we can fix a LOT of things ourselves. It does take some direction and will to try things so you you need to find someone with some built in mechanical ability. We have a sensor acting up on our combine and we'll be going through the tech manual diagnostic procedure in the shop today. Sometimes it's cheap to just change out parts and take a shot at the fix. Would not be approved by my grandfather but he wasn't going to have to pay $100+ for someone else to guess either. I'll also say that we're a lot more willing to try things if we know someone we can call (neighbor) that's done it before also. NAT is also a HUGE help. Thanks to all the guys here that are willing to give input.
