The age factor is a big one.
When young, healthy and ambitious mixed with poor and wanting to expand some hours worked will be much higher than you and me right now, old enough to retire if we wanted and no one would say we are slacking off. But since we enjoy it we keep puttering away but not tied up with livestock and fewer $$ worries.
