Farm in WC Iowa
Rolling hills ground that costs 6k/ac or bottom ground at 12k an acre.
What is more profitable?
If you can do 175bu average or 225bu average at just say $4/bu it's going to take 30 years to make up that extra 6k in land cost.
I have really been wanting to look into drip irrigation on cheaper land. I've hear for about 1k/ac (roughly 5 year return on investment with above #'s) you can do that and turn the cheap ground in to as productive of ground as the river bottoms and flat land areas.
I know other will have different opinions but I think that should be talked about if we are talking farm land in Iowa.
