We have worked hard all of our life to build a nest of eggs and now the return on our equity downright sucks. It makes a person wonder of if a person should move your equity to another place away from production ag. I hate to say this but it's reality.

That's just the nature of Ag as I see it. Majority of full time farmers I know die asset rich and cash poor. What's the old joke about being the richest man in the cemetery.

If you are farming for the money and expectations of a high flying lifestyle I would say you are right-get into another business.

I have been blessed enough to have a decent off farm job-some days it doesn't feel like a blessing though-at least in spring and fall. Have saved money in market for 25 years and invested in farm for last 15. Money in stock market has had a better return than farming. Will not always be that way-tides ebb and flow on both-but nothing wrong with being diversified. Would hate to have to quit farming at a downtime in ag.
