Subject: RE: Pasture lease rates in my area

southwestern Pa, on the Mason-Dixon line
To explain a little more........ The land lord does have a good mind.....has a wife at home on a feeding tube, and he has only one leg due to fighting diabetes.
There is almost NO cattle running ambition among young folks in my area.......I can have 6 more pastures like this next week..... if I would want to mend fences and clean up fields a little.
When grandpa or great uncle Bill dies or gets sickly, the cattle ARE GONE! and usually to slaughter at our little salebarns.
The landlord did set the price......He WANTEDTO SEE CATTLE ON HIS PLACE!
We don't get near the prices for our feeders as you all do in other areas of the country.
The common thought that Eastern heifers are all bred hurts us bad as well as the frequent mixing of some stein blood.
Also the inability to build loads of feeders (to head west) in this area ,unless we have a special feeder sale....kills our feeders.
