Earlville, NY | We've thought about getting meters, pedometers and all that, could never justify it. My milkers do a pretty good job at spotting off cows early and we are heavy into synchronized breeding. I'm sure all that yechnology would help catch health problems and missed heats, but would it be worth another 100K? I don't think so, for us. If you guys are doing all the milking and know your cows, you shouldn't need that stuff.
For the size you want, robots would be a good consideration, do you plan on getting bigger anytime soon? There are a lot of differences between a robot set-up and a parlor setup, retro-fitting later could be expensive.
There is a place here in Central NY that makes cheap and simple parallel parlors...Rod's Welding. There are several of them I've seen, they work pretty well and are less than half what a big name parlor costs. | |
