ray, n old neighbor once explained short crop/long crop. If you have a big crop and you usually fed 10 baskets of corn to you cattle, the tendency is to feed 11. (I got plenty corn) At the end of august your crib is almost empty. In a short crop, one tends to feed 9 baskets instead of 10 (gotta make it last) In august you look and the crib has extra. (how did that happen?)
