Unless he had indentations in the pavement so the scale wasn't lifting the truck/trailer above the road surface the scale could be wrong. Do you have the load scale ticket showing a legal load? I'd fight it because it will count against your record. Might want a lawyer there also. I think portable scale tickets are easy to beat if the lawyer knows his stuff. # 1 if the scale was sitting on top of the road it will weigh heavy as it could be lifting the load.

I heard about a grain Trucker in Nd yrs ago that made the DOT have enough scales to weigh all tires at 1 time, then made the DOT chip frozen ground so they were flush with the lot. then after all that When they weighed him he was empty...... He knew what he was doing & they were "hunting " him so he made "life interesting" for them.
