| These guys have done a good job telling about what can be wrong. Just one more-- bad connection. Loose, corroded, oxidized coonections, even bad contacts in a magnetic control. In my years of messing with low use farm motors, poor connections cook more motors than anything else. The problem doesn't have to be on your side of the disconnect, so you can't check them.
I unwired a grain elevator that was to be demolished. I didn't have to loosen any lugs to get the wires unhooked, just pull and wiggle and every wire came loose. Aluminum wire, especially, expands and contracts as it heats and cools in the lug so much that they loosen. | |
