Subject: RE: Bad electricity...................and belt conveyors??

We had a high amp draw problem with our silo unloader, the control box has a built in amp meter and the motor would run at about 20 amps but the meter would peg at 80 amps when the motor started. The silo sits about 400' off the road and about 200' past the other buildings so it's the last thing on the line to get power. Two years ago when we moved a dryer bin on that farm I had our electriction check the power at the silo and when the unloader started it was dropping to less than 100 volts. That farm only had 200 amp service so the power company upgraded us to 400 amp, ran a second set of lines in from the transformer and then we buried new lines into the grain bins rather than run them off the lines that feed the silo. The 400 amp service and new lines took care of the power problem and everything on that farm seems to work better now.
