West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge | Well, I did put a splint on today, towels and split PVC, he was laying down, and didn't even try to get up, just tied the other three legs together, but didn't need to. I thought then maybe I could walk him home, but he still didn't want to get up completely. Brought him some feed and water, then a bottle of milk replacer(sympathy and maybe some warmth) when I took it away, he did get up to chase me, but fell back down. So maybe I'll do that for a day or two until he feels like walking. Otherwise I guess I'll have to roll him onto a stone boat to get him home. I'll check with the vet tomorrow. Thanks for all the idea's, much more optimistic after reading the success you guys have had with just leaving them to heal.
Ironic part is, 3 days ago I tried to chase him and another calf home to feed them separate, and he got away on me. I should have persevered. |
