Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA

My grandpa turned 83 this week, still helps out as much as he can, and certainly costs more than his wages because he doesn't collect any. The last field he disked had 8-10 unworked passes in the middle of the field after he "finished" it. At least nothing was broken. Well actually the disk had a bearing out but that wasn't something he did.

We had a guy back in 2004 that was some kind of walking accident. It was always something. Truck in the ditch, broke driveshaft on truck, took ten minutes to back into a bagger, hit combine auger with grain cart auger, backed combine into the grain cart tractor, etc. He still works here and is actually pretty good at a lot of things, but doesn't run combine. He'd probably have trouble running combine because he lost that thumb and two fingers in an auger in 2005.
