Anybody have an employee that costs more than just their wages?

I have had paid employees since 1980.I have paid out in excess of a million bucks--way over, closer to 2 million-- for what some on here have received for free. (no father, FIL, grandfather, etc helping here). I hope the OP was just fooling around with his post. It would appear, since he "took over" the farm, he has been given a bit more than a few cornhead snoots.

I am a numbers guy, My help costs me 1.45X what I actually pay them. I have to factor that 1.45X into any venture that adds help, or that phantom 45% can cause the deal to go from profit to loss.

I had a part-time guy once who had a black cloud following him--every day it was something--got through the season and forgot to call him back the next year.

No one is perfect. Cornheads get bent, truck doors get "lost" and bent in the wind, gates get backed into, feed gets spilled on the ground. Hopefully not often, but it happens. If someone makes no mistakes, I'm guessing they accomplish very little.
