Subject: Kansas State University: trying to work for a farmer in college?

In two weeks im moving up to KSU majoring in agronomy. As of now, i have a potential job working on campus in a soils lab. But my question is, if that falls through or if i have the time on the weekends, how should i go about looking for a local farmer to work for? Or am i crazy thinking someone would want/need a part part time help? I would love to do just about anything they have, im coming from a wheat beans and corn farm...i think im really going to miss it! I have always worked on the farm, doing everything from spraying to cutting to planting. Have run a cat 75D, jd 4455, 8760, and 4730, IH 1688, apache 1010, and drove a 9200 IH semi with an eaton fuller 10 spd. with a 40ft grain trailer and a 48ft sprayer/drop deck trailer. Getting a little nervous about college and leaving the farm so just spit balling ideas! TIA!!
