NC Iowa | i use the va for health care. they dont normally run the b12 test unless i ask. and i forgot to ask for a few years. the last b12 test they did 3 years ago showed at the lower end of the acceptable range. went to different doc, and mentioned how i had to start taking alieve for leg and hip pain. also started having leg cramps in the night alot. i blamed it on getting older, but he wanted to test for b12. thats how it was found. i thought it was real good that he picked up on these symtoms and ordered the test. i have to have the shots because i can't asorb b12 from food or vitimins. prolonged low levels can lead to permanent damage. there was no cure for this until 1926, and those afflicted before then usually died within 3 years. | |
