| Don, you go ahead and keep believing that. We have an All American Home from Dyersville, IA. It has 8 ft. ceilings (not cathedral which is what the on site contractors push for ) 2x12" floor joists 16" O.C, 2x6" exterior and interior walls 16" O.C. and thicker insulation because of the thicker walls. We have 1500 sq. ft. on main floor and 1500 sq. ft. of living space in our finished basement. We have a 2 car attached garage 24'x24'. My sister had a stick built house erected 9 months later with 400 less sq. ft. of living space (main floor and basement) and her garage is 22'x24'. She has the cathedral ceiling( so no attic and lot less insulation) 2x4" exterior and interior walls 24" O.C. and 2x6" floor joists 24" O.C. We both have 90% efficient furnaces. Her house was $35,000 more than ours. Oh by the way, her basement isn't finished yet. Both homes have 3 bedrooms on main floor. Both Homes have 2 and 3/4th baths. A Modular home is not a mobile home. | |
