Faunsdale, AL | The reason they are asking that "stupid" question is to help out the folks who don't know a vaginal prolapse from a uterine prolapse. Vaginal prolapse only before calving, uterine prolapse only after calving etc.
Uterine prolapse is a true emergency in every sense of the word, while a vaginal prolapse isn't going to go anywhere in 12 hours or so.
Cousin it
A couple of things I think most folks with cows need to learn............how to hit a vein and administer calcium safely and how to hit an epidural. I doubt most vets want to teach how to hit an epidural because they know some folks are going to go into business as the competition for delivering calves etc... even though it is illegal in every state for someone to do this for someone else unless a licensed vet. But on your own cattle, it's a nice trick to know. | |
