Subject: prolapse

Kaukauna WI
Do you guys routinely check your cows AFTER they calve? So frustrating. Pulled a calf last night around 10:30. Everything routine, got in the house at 11:30. Worker comes 3:30, cow dead of a prolapse.

This is generally the only stretch of time when no one is checking our cows.

Should we beat ourselves up or just accept the fact that some will die? So, would anyone of you have gone out at say 1:00 and make sure a cow doesn't prolapse, even though there's nothing indicating that she was planning to do so? This same thing happened about 4 months ago.
