Had a cow down for 9 days here after calving a month ago, pinched nerve, but she was low on Phos too. Got her over onto the bedded pack, carried water and feed to her. so would crawl around and try to get up, and in doing so would flop side to side and lay "normal". Stood there and looked at her on Super bowl sunday night after milking and said, "well bussy, looks like your down", walked through and checked the rest of barn, came back to go out and here she was standing. Didn't stand long, maybe 30 seconds. But she is fine now. Even got her up to 85 lbs..... not to bad after not beig milked for 9 days. These cows test your patience and take time. But if they flop themselves around and side to side they will come out of it.
