Pasco WA. | Chopping head and once over with a Wishek disk in the fall. Disk once more in the spring and plant. Nitrogen in the planter band, rest applied with the pivot. No preplant broadcast. N needs to be applied earlier in COC because of the tie up. I also up the N rate some. Tried fall applied N to speed up breakdown but couldn't detect any difference. We have mild winters here though. Get some dirt on the residue in the fall and it's really broken down by spring. Leave the residue on top of the ground and it's a mess. My COC is my best looking corn. Possibly even better than following alfalfa. | |
