Central Iowa | Probably not what you want to read but ridge till corn on corn has worked very well for me.
Planting into a blackened and elevated strip created by the ridge cleaners makes a huge difference for early season growth. It's a function of separating the residue from the early seedlings, not burying the residue.
Nitrogen applied with the planter and sidedressing the rest of the N makes a big difference also.
There has been a lot of ugly disc ripped COC in my area the last several years.
