Subject: RE: WAAS reception east of Maine

Centre county Pennsylvania, USA

Your customer might want to check out the Canadian WAAS-like system (CDGPS), I don't know anything about it but the infomercials are impressive. Free satellite (MSAT-1) broadcasts of WAAS-like DGPS corrections. Coverage maps show coverage in most of Maine. Need to buy a $1500 (Canadian) receiver to receive satellite (MSAT-1) transmitted correction signal and output to DGPS receivers that are compatible with RTCM SC-104 formatted DGPS correction inputs. That's same DGPS receiver input format used for beacon DGPS corrections.

US WAAS does not broadcast corrections for dual frequency DGPS receivers, CDGPS infomercials imply that Canada's WAAS-like system does. If that's true then Canada's WAAS-like system should provide better performance (position accuracy) than US WAAS if you use dual frequency DGPS receiver and antenna.
