Where I grew up in Central TX, my Dad, two brothers, a couple of friends and I went out and used on average about 3 20 gauge shells per bird. You have to be good to catch them in flight. The nice thing is that when the area is in a drought, the birds come to the tanks. Only water for miles. Iowa is to wet and to few tanks to hunt the fun way.
