Greencastle, Pa. | Someone posted photos of turkeys being loaded in Minnesota about a week ago and I found that to be interesting. For sometime I have been taking photos of one of our flocks of birds so as to post a flock from start to finish. Sooooooo here goes. # 1 spreading kiln-dried pine shaveing in washed-down barn # 2 Setting up rings for birds. # 3 Brooders,water lines and feeders [hand] in rings. # 4 Barn ready for poults # 5 Off loading poults from hatchery truck. # 6 Day old poults in rings, about 450 per ring. # 7 20,160 poults in 48 rings,barn 50x 400. # 8 Poults at 17 days old loose on floor. # 9 Up close and personal, three weeks old. # 10 Eleven weeks old and in grow-out barn 50x520ft. [move at six weeks old] # 11 birds at sixteen weeks. # 12 Sixteen weeks old and squating to be bred [about 23lbs live wt.] # 13 Seventeen weeks old the night of load-out [to market] digital camera doesn't like dust. # 14 Birds going up loader to truck. # 15 Loading truck. We load turkeys here in Pa. after dark. I hope all will enjoy the photos! "Kingbaby" PS The "grower" does not help load the birds here. PSS The two "Gents" in the pickup [# 5] are Jim Jr. [Jim Bob] green shirt and my brother Bill.
